BACKGROUND
At Eastside we’re passionate about three things: transforming our world by pursuing God in weekend services, building community in connection groups, and unleashing compassion- locally and globally. Due to rapid growth over the past three years and the limitations of our current facility, we decided to relocate, purchasing a property in Anaheim, less than 5 miles away, that will become Eastside’s new home in Fall, 2012, and a ministry hub to reach the 5.8 million people in a 20-mile radius.
TIMELINE
WHAT’S NEW – January 2012Concrete is sawcut and removed to accommodate hundreds of feet of pipe and conduits for restrooms and floor electrical outlets. View the construction photo album. |
|
| Dec. 2011 The steel trusses for the auditorium roof arrive in 2 pieces and are assembled on the ground. When assembled, each one weighs 17,000 pounds and is lifted into place using a 300-ton crane. Interior walls are built in a process called “shotcrete”: cement is shot out of a hose onto steel bars creating a solid wall. |
|
| Nov. 2011 Steel columns are threaded through holes in the second floor, and anchored in a base on the first floor. These 40-foot columns will hold the trusses for the auditorium. |
|
| Oct. 2011 The entire roof is removed, as well as other old steel structure to prepare for new trusses and supports needed for the new auditorium. |
| Sept. 2011 The foundation work, as well as drilling and pouring of 74 massive support caissons is completed. These caissons will provide structural support for the new auditorium. |
| July 13, 2011 The 1st phase of demolition of the two-story building is completed – all the interior walls and ceilings are removed, heating and air conditioning ducts and equipment are gone and all water and electrical connections are disconnected and removed. View the demolition photo album |
| May 22, 2011 3,800 Eastsiders were part of the groundbreaking celebration on our new property! View the photo album. View the highlights video. |
| Apr. 07, 2011 Escrow closed, making Eastside Christian Church the new official owners of the property at 3370 Mira Loma Avenue, in Anaheim. Interior demolition is scheduled to begin in the next few weeks to prepare for construction of the new auditorium, classrooms and offices. |
| Feb. 28, 2011 The Anaheim Planning Commission approved our plans for the Mira Loma Campus. The approval includes modifying the use of the site from strictly office to multi-use, as well as our conceptual plan. This approval is required prior to the end of escrow, which is scheduled for April 1. |
| Jan. 21, 2011 The board approves and signs a Sales Agreement selling our current campus to the Dong Shin Presbyterian Church of Fullerton, for $16.6 million. Dong Shin is a thriving Korean church with about 1,000 members. As only God could, He answered their prayers for a place where they could continue to grow, and answered Eastside’s prayers that our campus might continue to be used to advance the work of Christ in Orange County. The agreement allows us to remain on this site until we move to our new location in mid to late 2012, and for Eastside Christian School to meet here through the 2011-12 school year. |
| Oct. 16/17, 2010 A nearly unanimous 91% of Eastside members voted to approve the purchase of the proposed site. We continue to conduct due dilligence on the property. |

Elder Statement:
“Having invested the last year carefully examining our options and opportunity as church, and in light of our Scriptural mission and vision, it is the unanimous conviction of the board of elders that relocation is the best course of action for the future ministry of Eastside, and will be vigorously pursued with the intent of occupying a new campus by the end of 2012 or sooner.”
