OPPORTUNITIES TO CARE
SOS Care Ministry Volunteer Opportunities
In Home Care:
The greatest need is for Care Ministry volunteers who are able to give In-home care. This person may need to serve from light housekeeping, shopping, basic meal preparation or drive to appointments.
Time Commitment: Depends on volunteer availability
Care Ministry Table:
The Care Ministry table volunteer for Saturday evenings and Sunday mornings would be able to answer questions of prospective volunteers as well as those with care needs.
Time Commitment: Sat. Event 4:45 pm – 6:30 pm or Sun. 8:30 am - 12:30 pm
Visitation:
This part of the ministry involves visiting nursing homes and home visits of shut-ins.
Time Commitment: Depends on volunteer availability
Card Ministry:
We have people who send cards of encouragement, caring and get well wishes. They include a personal note on the cards.
Time Commitment: 4 hours per month
[Cards and postage, names and addresses of recipients are provided.]
Telephone Ministry:
Telephone calls of encouragement and assurance are made to the homebound. This is also one way the volunteers learn of needs of the homebound.
Person best suited: A friendly, talkative person with a caring heart.
Time Commitment: Depends on volunteer availability
What is provided: Names and telephone numbers.
Additional Opportunities:
Bereavement Reception:
A coordinator and team as well as food donations.
Transportation to Church:
Drive those who need a ride to the weekend service.
Social Services:
Someone knowledgeable, who is able to direct people to services available in the community, county, state or federal government.
