Opportunities for Involvement

If you’re looking for a place to serve within our Missions program, consider stepping “out of your comfort zone” and “up to the plate” in any of these areas.

• Adopt-a-Missionary
  Would your family, LIFE! Group or ABF be interested in adopting a missionary? We would be happy to pair you up with someone and provide you with information on their family, ministry and more, if you would be willing to support them with your prayers, letters of encouragement and perhaps an occasional “care package” from home. A great way to become involved in the life and ministry of one of our field missionaries! • Birthday Brigade
  People like to be remembered, and our missionaries are no different. The Birthday Brigade takes the time each month to remember our missionaries on their birthday, or anniversary. You buy the cards, you write the notes and we pay the postage. • Care Packages
  Care packages are a fun and unique way to support our missionaries. Consider sending a quarterly care package to someone on the field. Great project for individuals or for groups! We can provide you with the missionaries “wish list” and interests as well as any restrictions on shipping contents or weight. Padded envelope care packages are the best and can be filled with candies, music, books, magazines, spices, photos and so many other creative things. If you would be interested in putting together a care package, be sure to contact Tammy Leatherby in the Missions office at TLeatherby@eastside.com for ideas and restrictions. • Craft Connection
  Craft Connection is a ministry to the women we have serving on the mission field. Eastside ladies gather monthly to pray specifically for these women and to personally craft them a small item to send along as a blessing from “home.” Lives are shared and friendships run deep and our missionary gals look forward to their special treat each month. • GCO Teams
  If you’re ready for a bigger challenge this could be the year you board the plane and head off to the field yourself… even if only for a few weeks! Click here for more information about qualifications and upcoming short-term mission projects. Your life will NEVER be the same!

• Missions Prayer Board
  You probably have walked past it each week and never noticed it was there. But if you take a moment to stop next time, you can bless one of our missionaries with only a few moments effort. The Missions Prayer Board is adjacent to the Missions Display Case in the main building. You will find prayer cards for each of our missionaries as well as blank postcards allowing you to bless them with a word of encouragement. Just grab a card, write a note and slip it through the mail slot provided. Eastside Missions pays the postage! It's a simple way to bless those we have serving on the field.

• Men on a Mission
  Open to Eastside members (men and women) 18 years of age and up, this team travels the globe offering their construction skills to literally “Build up the Kingdom of God.” Experts and novices accepted alike, provided you have a heart to serve and a willingness to work hard. • Missions Prayer Ministry
  Here’s your chance to partner with our missionaries without ever boarding a plane! Whether you join us for our Monthly Missions Prayer Night, or commit to lifting up our missionaries on your own, your gift of prayer WILL make a difference in the life and ministries of our missionaries. • Special Events
  Would you be interested in serving on the Special Mission Events Team? It could mean manning a table in the pavilion, or helping with preparations for the Missions Fair. It could mean assisting with registration for an event, or helping to host a dinner for a visiting missionary. Sometimes we need to find housing for furloughing missionaries, sometimes we need to help ready a home for their arrival. And each year we host a number of events for the congregation that always need a team of workers to “make it all happen.” So if you have the gift of helps, and are looking for a ministry opportunity with a ton of variety and an occasional commitment… we would appreciate the help.
