“Thank you for the pencils and paper and backpack. I really like the shirt too! I don’t like it when I don’t have my stuff for school, I feel so dumb. Your pack makes me feel better. Thank you!”
Abraham is an 11 year old in the 6th grade at Edison Elementary School. He’s from a family of six that all live together in a one bedroom apartment shared with another family and walking distance from the school. Getting his daily homework completed is a struggle as he is responsible for helping his younger brothers and sisters with theirs while his mom is at work. They’ve never had enough spare money for school supplies and oftentimes, the kids even go to school without food for the day.
Eastside partners with these schools to help provide their students with the tools and nutrition they need to be prepared to learn and grow up as strong individuals. To get involved in serving children like Abraham in various capacities, visit eastside.com/localserve.
