FOSTER YOUTH

Support Foster Teens
Who: Small Group Friendly, Adults only
When: Mondays, Fridays around 5-8pm
Where: Orange County
What: Volunteer at an event that is hosted for 90 of the most at-risk youth in the OC foster care system put on through Social Services. Sign up and we'll let you know about upcoming monthly events. Help with events like paddle boarding, escape room, tour of a test kitchen, career dinner.

CASA
Who: Adults 21 & Over
When: Flexible
Where: Orange County
What: Become a CASA for a child in the foster care system. For those who have a heart for foster children, but may not have the capacity in their homes, this is the opportunity to make a difference in the life of a foster child. A CASA provides a one-on-one stable, adult relationship for an abused child and independently monitors the child's circumstances in order to provide fact based information to the court in the best interest of the child. The CASA is the voice of the child to the court.

What: Mentor a foster youth, help support foster parents with providing dinners, volunteer at the visitation center, provide childcare, etc.

Become a Safe Family
Who: Adults Only
Where: LA & Orange Counties
What: Safe Families take a child into their home on a temporary basis--sometimes a weekend, sometimes months--to allow parents to be given the chance to keep their parents rights while getting back on their feet or during crisis/illness. Safe Families is a program of Olive Crest and they would love to tell you more!

Project Hope Alliance

Where: Costa Mesa
What: Help support and empower homeless students and their families by supporting the work of Project Hope Alliance. Volunteer opportunities vary from time commitment, area of engagement, and availability from sorting/organizing donations, tutoring/mentoring students, assembling snack bags, etc.

Higher Ground After School Program
Who: Adults Only
When: Mondays-Saturdays, After School Hours
Where: Anaheim
What: Help kids with homework or other activities after school through the organization Higher Ground which is geared toward mentoring low-income families at schools in Anaheim.

Volunteer at Local Emergency Shelters
Who: Adults Only (in most cases)

What: Volunteers needed for Mercy House Shelters such as Bridges at Kraemer Place, The Link, The Way, etc. Volunteers will be helping with shelter cleanup, facilitating activities and/or meals. Sign up to work a 3-4 hour shift any day of the week available.

Donate Hygiene Items to Mercy House Shelters

what: Make an impact in our community by donated needed hygiene items to Mercy House homeless shelters! List of specific items sent after signing up.

Beautify Your Community Alongside Homeless Neighbors 
Who: Small Group Friendly
When: Daylight Hours
Where: Anaheim
What: Serve with A Better Way Anaheim either once per month, twice per month, or once per week. The program matches up a few community volunteers alongside 5 vetted homeless individuals to complete a Love Anaheim project such as Park Beautification, Trash Can Painting, fire hydrant painting or various similar projects. Or volunteer to provide lunch for this group of 6 people serving.

Welcome Baskets for Homeless Neighbors Moving into New Homes
Who: Family Friendly - Cost varies upon items purchased

What: Provide a welcome basket of vital household supplies for individuals/families transitioning from homelessness into permanent housing with City Net, Pathways of Hope, and other local partners.

What: Get educated and volunteer with Orange County's Human Trafficking Task Force in various capacities to help with things like survivor monthly events, community educational events, at-risk youth prevention programs, life skills workshops etc.

Help Alleviate Poverty at Giving Children Hope

What: Volunteer at Giving Children Hope (a local non-profit that helps alleviate poverty in our community) Mon-Fri between the hours of 9am-5pm with packing backpacks full of food for local low-income students and their families.

Donate Food to Giving Children Hope
Who: Family Friendly, Connection Group Friendly
When: Flexible
Where: Buena Park
What: Donate food for those experiencing hunger in our community. Giving Children Hope is a local nonprofit that helps alleviate poverty in our community.

Provide Dinner for Victims of Domestic Violence
Who: Family Friendly, Connection Group Friendly
When: Weeknights except Tuesdays
Where: Anaheim & Brea
What: Provide a meal and activity for the residents of the Sheepfold and their kids. Residents have been victims of domestic violence/abuse.
