Mentorship/Education

Saturday School for Low-Income Students at Edison Elementary
Where: Anaheim
When: 7:15am-12:45pm
Who: 13 years+
Eastside is partnering with Edison Elementary (a local low-income school) to help run their Saturday School. Saturday Schools help catch up both students who have incurred an absence as well as the school who misses out on funding. Jumping in gives teachers a break and brings new voices to teach. Volunteers will help with learning activities or leading students around to different stations, set up and clean up.

Saturday School for Middle Schoolers + Wellness Seminars for Low Income Parents
Where: Anaheim
When: 7:30am-1pm
Who: 18 years+
Eastside will be helping to host a wellness fair for McKinney Vento (low-income) Families in the PYLUSD. In the morning, the parents will go to offered sessions on helpful topics at Valadez, Elementary students will do Saturday School at Melrose Elementary School and middle school students at Valadez Middle School. There will be a resource fair and BBQ after both morning events as well. Your role will be to help with the Valadez Middle Saturday School--help provide a fun learning environment, do engaging activities with kids, and/or help host parent seminars.

Wellness Resource Fair + BBQ for PYLUSD Low Income Families
Where: Anaheim
When: 10:30am-3pm
Who: 15 years+
Eastside will be helping to host a wellness fair for McKinney Vento (low-income) Families. In the morning, the parents will go to offered sessions on helpful topics at Valadez, Elementary students will do Saturday School at Melrose Elementary School and middle school students at Valadez Middle School. There will be a resource fair and BBQ after both morning events as well. Your role will be to help set up, clean up, prepare and serve the BBQ lunch to all who attended the morning sessions and organize a raffle for the families.

Organize and Sort Donations for Low-Income Students and Families
Where: Costa Mesa
When: Shift 1: 10am-12pm // Shift 2: 1pm-3pm
Who: Family Frienly (all ages)
Project Hope Alliance works with low income students and families in our community. Help organize, sort and fill backpacks to be distributed to the students and families they serve.

Community Enrichment

Build + Refresh Community Farm + Harvest for Families in Need
Where: Anaheim
When: 7:30am-11:30am
Who: Family Friendly (all ages)
The Riverbed Farm is an urban farm located in Anaheim that grows produce to give away to low-income families in the area. Help sand and paint the raised grow beds, harvest produce, build planter boxes and more!

Painting + Beautification of Betsy Ross Park
Where: Anaheim
When: 8am-2pm
Who: 14 years+
Host a carnival for local low-income students and families of Olive Street Elementary and Thomas Jefferson Elementary and provide them with a day to learn and build some fun family memories. Serve lunch, teach healthy drink options, cheer students on as they run, host carnival games, etc.

Assemble Gifts for City of Anaheim
Where: Anaheim
When: 9am-12pm
Who: Family Friendly (all ages)
City Officials and Employees work hard to make our community excellent with little recognition. Show your support by creating gift baskets and cards for the City of Anaheim.

Assemble Gifts for First Responders
Where: Anaheim
When: 8:45am-11am (Shift 1) // 11:45am-2pm (Shift 2)
Who: Family Friendly (10 years+)
First responders put their lives at risk daily to help ensure our safety. Show your appreciation by helping assemble gifts for our men and women of the Anaheim Police Dept and Anaheim Fire Dept.

Transitional Living

Carnival for Community Members in Need at Pathways of Hope
Where: Fullerton
When: 9am - 3pm
Who: Family Friendly (8 years+)
Pathways of Hope serves the North Orange County community in many ways, especially through their resource and food distribution center called the HUB of Hope. To help them reach out to the greater community, we are partnering with them to put on a Community Carnival. Help serve food, run game booths, a photo booth and much more!

Pack Lunches + Clean at Family Care Homeless Shelter
Where: Orange
When: 10am-1pm
Who: Family Friendly (8 years+)
The Family Care Center is a family emergency shelter, run by Mercy House for those facing homelessness in our community. While residents are gone for the day, help clean and organize the shelter, pack lunches, and more.

Provide Lunch + Activities for Residents of The Orchard Supportive Housing
Where: Santa Ana
When: 9am-2pm
Who: 13 years+
The Orchard is a permenant housing location run by Mercy House for chronically homeless residents with the goal of supporting individuals in order to maintain stable housing. Volunteers will help to prepare and serve lunch, put on a bike repair clinic and engage in other activities with the residents.

Help Clean, Beautify Shelter + Sort Donations with Pathways of Hope
Where: Fullerton
When: 9am-12pm
Who: 14 yrs+
Pathways of Hope is a community parter who meet needs like housing and hunger for those in need in our community. Volunteers will clean residential units, the grounds and organize donations.

Lunch Event + Celebration for Families Served by Giving Children Hope
Where: Buena Park
When: 9am-2:30pm
Who: 18 years+
Eastside is partnering with Giving Children Hope to honor the families they serve and hear first-hand how the program has made an impact in their lives. Volunteers will help gather stories and info about each family's journey, serve a special lunch, distribute needed items and provide fun activities for kids.

Foster Youth

Beautify + Organize Olive Crest Academy for At-Risk Youth
Where: Orange
When: 7:30am-1:00pm
Who: 15 years+
Olive Crest Academy is a school for teens whose psychological and emotional needs are so great, it makes success at traditional schools very difficult. The campus is in bad need of repair and some TLC. Help bring new life to the campus by painting, cleaning, organizing, repairing and re-decorating.

Organize + Beautify Foster Group Homes
Where: Santa Ana
When: 8am-1pm
Who: 13 years+
Olive Crest has various housing locations throughout Orange County for current or transitional foster youth in our community. Help organize donations and supplies, freshen up the front and back yard and other home projects around 3 of their homes/apartment complexes.


Serve Day Prep + Clean Up Team
Where: Anaheim
When: Varies
Who: 18 years+
It takes a lot to put on a Serve Day each year! Volunteers are needed before, during and after Serve Day to prepare supplies, run missing items to projects and help with the giant task of clean up. This project is perfect for those not available on Serve Day! Work days include: 2/28, 3/1, 3/5-8, 3/12-15 for 2-4 hour time blocks 9am-5pm, or Saturday 3/9 from 7am-7pm. After signing up, schedule a couple days/times with our Support team.

Homelessness

Provide Lunch + Help with Projects for Staff + Residents at Bridges at Kraemer Homeless Shelter
Where: Anaheim
When: 9:30am-2pm
Who: 13 years+
Bridges at Kraemer is a local homeless shelter for 200 single men and women who are ready to take their next steps in becoming housing and employment-ready. Volunteers will be helping with the daily shelter volunteer tasks, organizing, cleaning as well as serving lunch in partnership with Brackens Kitchen.

Homelessness 101 + Assemble Kits for Homeless Neighbors
Where: Anaheim
When: 9am-12pm
Who: Family Friendly (all ages)
Assemble various kits for those experiencing homelessness in our community. These items have been requested by our incredible partners at City Net and Pathways of Hope. In addition, you'll have the chance to gain some new education and perspective on the homeless population in Orange County.

Host Lunch + Activities for Residents at Link Homeless Shelter
Where: Santa Ana
When: 9:30am-2pm
Who: Family Frienly (13 years+)
The Link is a emergency shelter for up to 200 single men and women located in Santa Ana run by Mercy House. Volunteers will be helping with the daily shelter volunteer tasks, serving lunch to the residents as well as other activities.

Host BBQ + Carnival for Residents at Mercy House's Family Care Center
Where: Orange
When: 4:00pm-8:30pm
Who: Family Frienly (13 years+)
The Family Care Center is a Mercy House shelter that houses families facing homelessness in our community. Volunteers will help run the shelter, host a BBQ and carnival for the 60 residents whom call the shelter home.
